I purchased Vega movie studio 17 Platinum from Amazon. Downloaded all the software but when i went to register with
the serial # i got an error 14 message..? I did check the serial # and it was correct. Looking for help to activate software.

This is turning out to be very common with Vegas software downloaded from Amazon. Be reminded that these may not all be legitimate vendors.

Magix support said Amazon gave out the wrong Serial Number> Amazon tech support (Andy) tried to contact Magix with no help> Amazon said to contact Magix. To resolve this ping-pong between Magix and Amazon, I canceled the Amazon download order, took the refund and paid Amazon to send me a CD with the Vegas Movie Studio 17 Plat. Then I used that Serial Number to register the previously downloaded and installed program from Amazon. It works fine now! The net: if you order this program-version 17 from Amazon, order the program content on Compact Disk (CD) with hard-copy Serial Number.
I Suspect that Amazon Program Download group mixed up the serial number form ACID Music Studio and sent this serial number for Vegas Movie Studio by mistake. However, neither Amazon or Magix were able to correct the problem and send me a correct serial number.
De mon coté, j'ai acheté le CD d'installation Vegas Movie Studio 17 Platinum . Sur mon ancien ordinateur, ca fonctionnait. Puis au fur et à me sur que je l'utilisé, il c'est chargé d'erreur. Je l'ai réinstallé et 9a fonctionnait. Maintenant que j'ai changé d'ordinateur. Tout se charge à merveille mais lorsque je veux enregistré tout est au vert et si je clique pour enregistrer , j'ai l'erreur 14 qui apparait alors que j'ai le bon numéro de série. Je ne sais plus quoi faire.
@Gatane-MeunierBernard if you have double-checked that you are using the correct serial number for your product, please see this comment quoting the FAQ about activations.
I reinstalled it and 9a worked.
Version/update numbering such as 9a, 9b, 9c etc suggests version numbering from Sony Creative Software days which would relate to Vegas Movie Studio 7, not 17. VMSP under MAGIX ownership had three numeral build numbering; e.g. the first build update to VMS 17 was build 137.
Please clarify whether you have Vegas Movie Studio 7 or 17.
J'ai bien le bon numéro de série, c'est sûr et m'a été confirmé, j'ai déjà cherché des solutions mais pour le moment rien. C'est bien Vegas Movie Studio 17 Platinium que j'ai. Donc, quoi faire, avant ca fonctionnait sur mon ancien ordinateur?
@Gatane-MeunierBernard at least check your MAGIX account > My products > Show more details to see the activations. Deactivate as advised in the FAQ I linked to if there are no free spaces for activation.there.
Oui, je regarde dans ma boite mail et dans cet endroit de discussion. Franchement c'est honteux d'attendre et de passer tout son temps pour résoudre. Son mon autre ordinateur ça fonctionnait. Là je comprends pas pourquoi. J'ai Windows 10 et avant aussi et j'ai un ordinateur DELL plus moderne que celui d'avant
Please keep in mind that error 14 is almost always associated with trying to activate an application with a serial number that is for a different application. The best thing to do is to contact support (or look at your My Account page) and determine what application the serial number you are using is actually for. For VEGAS Movie Studio, the most common error here is that someone tries to activate basic Movie Studio with a Movie Studio Platinum serial number (or vice versa).
