Just exactly how many of these threads do we need??
Where do you get so much time to write them all??
Can you not just pick ONE of the endless MXF threads you have written and stick with it??
Sony MXF is MPEG2 in an MXF wrapper. It can be typically up to 35Mbps VBR MPEG2, but MPEG2 nevertheless. Even though Vegas doesn't use any GPU acceleration, stuttering and tearing is one case in which the speed of the video card does come into play. Plus there is scaling going on which involves the CPU. Vegas does not use overlay for the preview window like Premiere. Also make sure that "scale video to fit preview window" is off by right-clicking on the preview window. When it is on it requires floating point math to scale, when it's off it just divides by an integer which is quicker.
You have posted 6 separate threads today complaining about one area or another of Vegas. I certainly hope you have filed 6 technical support tickets, too. As I said, there isn't much any of us can do on the forum except offer suggestions and say, "Oh, poor Lars, he's having problems."
"How do I know if it is a fault in the footage or in the preview...? ;) '
Number the frames using burnt in timcode. Checking frame by frame then you can see what is going on.
I certainly agree with John Cline. We all need to be kicking doors down to get these issue addressed. I keep getting the horrible feeling that issues such as this and others are not being escalated to the people who need to know about them.
Look, I didn't write the program. My guess is that there are some video tasks which can't be multithreaded across multiple CPU cores. It is well documented on the Internet that Vegas uses multiple cores better than any NLE out there. Overlay has some potential compatibility issues and Vegas avoids it to remain compatible with the widest range of hardware.
Lars, I'm sorry, but the more you flood the forum with all these threads, the less inclined I am to want to help you out. I mean, come on, six threads just today alone?
I don't know what to tell you, apparently none of us on the forum can fix your problem. Do you have the latest drivers for all your hardware? Have you done all the Microsoft updates?
I'm sure you don't want to hear it but I use MXF files all the time and they work fine. I have absolutely never seen the problems you are describing. You want a description of my system, here it is:
This is the same machine I've been running since January of 2007. I'm running it in a dual-boot configuration; Win XP SP3 and Win 7 Ultimate 64.
ALL of my living involves editing video, it is certainly not a hobby of mine.
What are your system specs? Why are you refusing to accept the possibility that it really IS something unique to your system that is causing these problems?
i echo john's comments entirely. if there's one thing i haven't had problems with it .mxf. rock solid, reliable, etc.,
i'm running 7/64bit on i7/920/6gb. and from another post, my c: drive is a seagate barracuda - certainly not 'green' ;-) and as stated, not suffering anything like you are.
i gave advice in another thread - load vegas onto ANYTHING else and see if your problems persist. if they go away IT IS your system, be it memory, hd, bad card seating, goodness knows what....
but please, please, stop multiple posting. like john, i'm a professional producer and am here to learn and help if i can, but i certainly don't have the time, or inclination to repeat myself in thread after thread.....
get your act together man, you're losing friends......
leslie
BTW - just put your problems - listed and numbered into one post. if i can help i'll simply respond to the appropriate number('s).
As this test is using entirely generated media I suspect this is another manifestation of a problem I investigated some time ago based on another users report. The media generators can create media that is not exactly one frame long i.e. does not align exactly with frame boundaries. Easy enough to then see how such output is created.
