This has been noted before, but it may bear repeating.
The problem: when making or preparing discs, DVDA will grind and grind but do nothing. Sometimes I get an error, other times DVDA continues forever without even reaching 1%.
One culprit for this on my machines has been the Matrox VFW codecs (vfwcodecs_10.exe). By uninstalling them, DVDA is freed up to work properly.
Today I downloaded a newer version of the codecs [Version 2.0 (build 11381) (February 25, 2014)] which didn't cause the problem. Here's a link for Windows 7 & 8:
http://www.matrox.com/video/en/support/windows/vfw_software_codecs/downloads/softwares/version2.0/
I have older movies that require the Matrox codec---hope now both Matrox & DVDA can peacefully coexist.
