1,000 Clips. How OFTEN Building Peaks?

Grazie wrote on 5/17/2006, 11:48 PM
Well?

I've got my longest long-form project to edit. By the time I'll have finished capturing this morning I guess I'll have something near 1,000 clips of footage I've shot.

Bit of a pain this, but how often will Vegas wish/want to re-build Peaks when I open Vegas? It takes a time to do this procedure. Will this happen every time I open up this Veg?

Of course for here on in I'll break the project down. But I was wanting to use this veg as a primary/first-level audition & ideas creation Veg.

TIA

Grazie

Sometimes Grazie, sometimes.
I was getting into "go and have a look mode" (because I'm not on the editing machine) when you said "problem solved". So I haven't.

Sometimes I just turn off thumbnails and waveforms to speed things up.
I know this has been whined about before but what is a major irritation is having the .sfk files in the same folder as the clips, no doubt when you get into 1000s of clips it becomes even more of a pain although I guess MM rather the Vegas Explorer makes it easier.

Just beware of the pending time change in the fall. Probably the next time you open your project after that all the peak files will be rebuilt again. Think you can finish this project before September? This is a good incentive! ;)
