10.c audio problem

I have had this happen twice this week with 2 different projects. I am using Pro 10.c. Each project had 3 video tracks; one for video and the other 2 for text. Under the 3rd down video track is a audio track for audio from the video. Below that are 2 more audio tracks for music. In each case I am using music created with Sony Acid and rendered as mp3. I layout the project, do my cuts, add text and music and render out with no problem. This is when it gets weird. I have gone back, after closing Vegas, and re-opened the project to make changes (usually the next day) and my video audio will not play. I have moved tracks, soloed tracks, deleted tracks and can’t get video audio. However, I have found that if I go to volume FX on each envelope and open volume, make no adjustment, then close the window, audio plays. I thought this might have something to do with my Acid tracks and re-rendered them as wav file and still the same. If I open volume FX on each video audio envelope it works.
What the heck am I doing wrong?

Let me add on...after the first project, I was so frustrated that I removed Vegas and did a clean download. When I did that and went back to the original project it worked fine so I thought it must be some bug. This new project is doing the same thing just days after the re-download.

I wish I could help you - I can't even help myself. There's a lot of smart people here....somebody will jump in.

Welcome to 10.c

This may not be related at all but worth checking.

1) What is the audio set for in the Project Properties
2) Have you tried to make all of your audio the same format with the same specs (may not be possible, but might help troubleshoot)
3) Have you saved the project as a different name in case the original is somehow corrupted

I have checked project properties and audio settings match 44,000hz, 16 bit. I don't suspect it is corrupted because it happened to 2 different projects. Interesting note...the first time, I removed Vegas and did a re-load and had no problem. This project worked fine yesterday. Last night when I shut my pc down, I had some massive Microsoft update. Today...problem. FYI, I am have Windows 7 64bit.

Why not try rolling back the 'massive' M'soft update and see if it helps.

LOL maybe I should.
Remember, it did it earlier this week before the MS update.

M'soft updates typically create a restore point before they do any damage(LOL!), so may be in luck.

I bet this is caused by the MS Visual C++ updates recently.
