1080p 30 to 24

So, I have three cameras (2 Nikons, 1 Olympus) and the only fps they share is 30 (similar bit rates), and I want the best work flow for getting 24p output (3rd camera is 24p). I shoot at 1/60 for 30 fps, will MS provide artifact free re-coding to MP2 @ 24 or is there a another format I should re-code to? What kind of problems should I look for in the final result?

Thanks.

Artifact free?
Use a 30p project and Disable Resampling on the 24p footage.
That forces it to drop, rather than blend adjacent frames.

If they can all shoot 30p, why wouldn't you produce 30p output? That would seem to be the optimal solution.

3 rd camera only shoots 24p, sorry I should have made that clear.

Will try the 30p with resample off. Thanks.

I have gone the other way from 24p on a Nikon D7000 for a few shots to mix in with GoPro and Panasonic G6 footage shot at 60p in a 30p timeline. As long as I "Disable resample" on all the clip properties, MS12 and MS13 do a great job of up sampling the 24p to 30p. In fact, I can't tell in even a single frame in a 20 second clip where it does it's magic. I'm pretty sure the pull down works equally as well. In older versions of VMS I did notice it occasionally though, so YMMV.

Cheers,
Pete

Smooth motion looks terrible to me if it is upsampled from 24 to 30 fps with resample on or off.
I'm reminded of the opening of Avatar soft-telecined by a DVD player (ughh).
If there are just short sections of 24p, however, it may not be that noticeable.
