1394 Problems

Hi all

I am experiencing a strange problem while attempting to PTT.

If I start V4 with the camera connected (whether DV IN is active or not) V4 hangs with just part of the main window displayed. Using the Task manager which shows the program Not Responding doesn't so;ve it but a reset does.

If I connect the camera after V4 has loaded then I either get a blue screen with a Memory Dump message or a complete reset. W2K.

Sometimes I get the camera connected and attempt to PTT but only the manual option is available. After rednering a message is displayed informing me the device is off-line. I check the connection and camera set up is OK the click on continue abd everything just hangs. The PC is responsive but I cannot get rid of V4 even with the Task Manager.

The 1394 interface is part of the PCI card that came with Creative Labs' Audigy Platinum. I have re-installed the Windows driver and even tried the Texas Intruments one (ISTR it mentioned somewhere) but no luck.

Capture works fine!

Can anyone offer some advice as to what may be going wrong?

Cheers

You might want to check for resource sharing, enabled DV bridge, open network. Those would be the first things I'd check for. Check for updated drivers for your Audigy. Sometimes those have problems. It seems to be an either/or with the Audigy. Either they totally work, or they don't. Win2K drivers have lots of issues based on forum comments. But...I'd look for shared IRQ's/ACPI issues first.

How do I check IRQ/ACPI issues?
Thanks

Maverick,

A friend of mine had a very similar problem when using his Audigy card. Downloading the latest drivers for the Audigy card solved the problem.

I actually downloaded the latest drivers a few weeks ago which then caused an ASIO warning message box to appear twice with Cancel required to be clicked before V4 would start. I asked about this here but never had any results.

Suddenly, two days ago and with no driver or other changes, this message at start up has gone!
