16x9 From Camcorder to 16x9 Moniter?

I've read the forums and cannot figure out how to do this. I have a Sony trv33, which is supposedly true 16x9 when selected, and film in this 16x9 widescreen mode w/ camcorder. I then use Movie studio to capture and encode from dv camera. I've tried both 4:3 and NTSC 16x9 settings in Movie studio but when I watch the final dvd product on my 16x9 tv, everything looks stretched and squatty. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Are you looking at it 16x9 format in the preview window in MS3? If it looks 4x3-ish there, then it's not going to look 16x9 on the TV. If it looks 16x9 in the MS3 preview screen, then the problem is your TV settings.

you need to set the correct aspect ratio on the mpeg-2 file before burning to a dvd. movie studio can't do this for some reason. search for dvdpatcher.
