16X9 / widescreen question

I am doing a project for a ministry in Ghana. They are asking for a 16X9 view but I don't see that listed in the Aspect Ratio area of the preferences. I chose the "Widescreen" choice but the p[icttures still don't fill the screen. I have black edges on either side. I tried rendering my motion backrounds to what i thought was a widescreen buit then again I got black edges on both sides.
Anyone out there care to give me a little help with this one? I really appreciate all the help thus far on learning Vegas Platinum. You guys rock!
John

Widescreen is the correct choice for 16:9. If you are still seeing black edges (how large?) on the left and right, then your video is 4:3 (not widescreen).

Did you have your project properties set up for widescreen when you created your video in Vegas Movie Studio? If your project was not set up for widescreen, and then you render to a widescreen file, what you end up with is 4:3 content laid over a widescreen background (with black filling in where there's no content).

I'm not sure about Vegas Movie Studio, but the render dialog in Vegas Pro has a checkbox labeled "Stretch video to fill output frame size" which does just as it says. You could try that, although it may distort your video depending on what's in it.

John,

What ministry are you working with in Ghana (if you're able to say)? I have traveled there many times and work with a number of groups there (missionaries and orphanages).

Thanks,
