1st time print to tape audio problems

When I try to print to tape, audio drops out for several seconds intermittently. Its not in the edited program - I've checked. Anyone ever run into this problem? Picture's playing, audio's playing... then audio's gone for 2,5, 8, 10 seconds, then its back.

Yes I have. This happens when trying to print to a DSR-1800 Sony DVCam deck. It does not happen with a DSR-11 Sony DVCam deck though. I am fairly new to Vegas (two months), I am used to Premiere.
I think it might be a firewire daisy chain issue (external firewire hard drive with deck hooked to it and not directly to it's own port. I will try some more tests to see. Until then, I am not using the 1800 to print. The main problem I am dealing with now the the copy inhibit problem (when every bit of the material was generated by me).

(I too am brand new to vegas - about a month.) I have a dsr 1500. When - as a test - I print to Sony trv 900, no problems. The editor Im working with (editing on another system - incite) is more technically adept than I. He downloaded the version of vegas 4.0c build 181. We'll see if that helps.
