DVDA 3 needs to combine the individual videos for multi-angle in a single stream. That is why the files will always require re-encoding. In the manual, Sony suggests to use AVI files to reduce any loss in quality.

Since DVDA needs to re-encode the files, I would like to see the same settings dialog for the MPEG2 encoder as in Vegas (i.e. including VBR, 2-pass, etc.)

ok, I'll encode to avi, but then yes dvd-a has only very basic encoding options.
Just the bitrate..
I don't see why it need to re-encode the video though,
I had to make a multiangle dvd with scenarist once, and it didn't need to re-encode the streams, just multiplex them.
I guess it's easier for dvd-a if it just reencode..
