2 gb clip limits and popping noise when joined...

I have a Canon camcorder and, as is apparently the norm, when recording a continuous event, like a concert etc. it is broken into approx 2 gb segments/clips. When joining these together in Vegas Movie Studio 10, there is an audible and irritating pop/click sound...
Any solutions to this in VMS 10 or using other software to combine/merge the event into one continuous clip to then be edited ... without the pop/clicks?
Thanks...

I'm certainly no expert in these matters but have always believed that the 'Production Suite' versions of Vegas Movie Studio offers the best value for money as opposed to the straight forward Platinum version alone. For a relatively small outlay the Production Suite comes with a few more music/sound effects but, more importantly, it comes bundled with Sound Forge Audio Studio which will do exactly what you want in knocking out those pop/clicks.
Someone else will probably chip in explaining another way of possibly achieving this with what you have but you might want to consider the Production Suite version when next you come to upgrade.

Here's a link to a Sony Sound Forge 10 tutorial for cleaning up/removing audio defects. . It'll give you some idea of how it works/what is involved.

I have a similar problem with HD files from a JVC camcorder, actually a small snippet of missing audio. txMuxer joins the files seamlessly.

Hi. I would try overlapping the clips by 1 frame. You probably won't notice the video overlap and it should get rid of the audio pop.

Thanks for the reply...... I do have VMS 10 Platinum, which included Sound Forge Audio Studio. Have been thinking about upgrading to VMS 11, have any idea as to whether or not that is a woerthwhile expenditure?

IMHO yes, VMS 11 is a lot better and more stable than version 10. When upgrading, however, don't forget to go for the Platinum 'Production' version which includes Sound Forge 10 which is also far far better than the earlier version (9) from what I read.

And also consider that we're getting close to the time when new versions are announced.

I have no knowledge of when v12 will be release but it's usually in the June/July timeframe when new versions of VMS are released.

If you don't have a compelling need to upgrade now, I'd suggest waiting a couple more months to be sure.

Why not try joining/editing the clips using Blender (free) ? Just go to the Video Sequence Editor. It's very straightforward for basic editing and effects. It allows unlimited special effects. The new UI makes it enormously easier to use than previously.
