I am trying deperately to get a 2 hr video to a single dvd. I am using "movie studio 3.0" with no additional add-ons. Anyone know how I can compress the video and get it onto a single disc? I tried using a program called reJig but the .m2v file isnt supported by movie studio. Looking for some sort of compression download (preferably free) where I can simply recompress an mpeg2 file and get it into "sonic my dvd" to burn

Do you require the full 2 hours, or can you edit/trim some of it down?

If you require the full 2 hours, I believe you can adjust the bitrate at which it was captured at. (At least I can capturing from analog video. I have not had any experience with digital video.) I can get anywhere from 1.5 to 1.75 hours of analog video on a DVD.

Thanks...

I have a SonyVAIO desktop with DVD writer built in. The program driving it, Click To DVD, lets me select the quality level and hence the length of a movie I can put on a DVD, with increments of 1 hour, 1-1/2 hour, and 2 hours. I have not been able to detect any real difference in qualtiy of the 2 hour record vs 1 hour, but on a new HDTV set some might be seen - I'd be interested in hearing some feedback from someone on that. For your situation, it would appear you need a different DVD burning software package. Click To DVD might be available from Sony as a separate piece of software. It will take an avi or mpeg file as input, with up to 2 hours of footage.

I use a free utility called ReJig (www.rejig.org). It will compress a video to 70% of it's size. I've managed to put 2 hrs 12 min on a DVD using this.

1. Encode at a lower bitrate.

OR

2. If the DVD files are already created, use DVD Shrink (freeware). The older version 2.3 may work better for this purpose than the latest beta release. Try the beta release first, and if it doesn't work, then use 2.3.

I can compress using this program to a nice size but dont know what to do with the output. the audio and video become separate and cant be placed in movie studio after that. I can place the video in "my dvd" but with no audio whats the point of buring the compressed video? Any suggestions

where can shrink be downloaded? What format does the file have to be in to shrink? ISO image maybe? I can make iso images on ulead so this might be helpful!
