2 Questions

Question 1 - is it possible to delete a couple of settings I have entered in the "Format" section of rendering when you make a movie. I set up a couple of my own templates (file size, video compression, etc) and named them...now I want to delete them...is that possible?
Question 2 - Would it be possible to get a new item added to any upgrades that Movie Studio has planned? It would be nice to have an "overlay" on the monitor in the software showing where safe title, safe video and the absolute center of the screen is...just a suggestion.

I edit all day long on an Avid DS system and use this program at home...I think I like it more than the DS system.

1) Select the custom template in question. Next to the floppy disk icon that is used to save them is an X that can be used to delete the entire template. Alternatively, if you want to keep the custom template but without those settings, change whatever you want to change and click the floppy disk icon again to save it with the new changes.

2) I've got a couple of images that can be used to simulate the Safe Areas overlay:

pick whichever one is appropriate, then place the image on the top track in the area you want to check. When the cursor is within the image event you'll see the yellow dashed safe areas overlaid in the preview window. Of course, this only works if your top track is empty. Oh well, it's better than nothing.

About the safe areas, I downloaded the .gif to show the safe areas and put it in the top track. Ok, now I'm looking at 2 dashed yellow rectangles. Am I to assume that one of them is the exact area that will show up on a television set? And anything outside that yellow rectangle will be chopped off? Why are there 2 rectangles? Thanks in advance. Gerry

Gerry...the outside box is for "safe" video....meaning it will show up on most 4x3 tv's....the inside box is called "safe title"...keep any font work you do inside of this box in order for it to be seen on most 4x3 tv's.
Video outside the "safe video" box may be cut off when viewing it...and text outside the "safe title" box may be cut off when viewing it...hope this clears it up for you.

The way i think of it is that the two lines divide the image into three zones. The outer zone probably won't be seen on most TVs, the inner zone probably will be seen, and the zone inbetween the two sets of lines may or may not be seen.

What percentages did you use for your dimensions?
Chienworks wrote on 1/13/2004, 6:51 PM
It's a still frame snapshot straight from Vegas at the default values of 10% and 20%

Thanks for the info!! Last point: Mr. Chien, do you have one for 16:9 format?

Try these on for size. I'm not sure if they're right or not, so if someone who does know can confirm them that would be great.
