2 questions

cheroxy wrote on 11/3/2006, 10:42 PM
1-I have 36 tracks all w/ one event (each is different). I would like to apply the same effect quickly to them all. How is that done?

2-This is a bit more complex...I have (as you can tell from the question above) 36 tracks in a 6x6 PIP. I want to move each event independently in 3D space so that it pivots around an X-axis through the bottom of the clip. In other words I want it to fall back as if it were on a table. Normal rotation is from the center of the original clip. I would like the center of rotation changed as stated above. When I mess with the x offset, etc I can't quite seem to get the effect that I want. Am I trying to do too much w/ Vegas that I should be doing in another program?

Thanks,
Carson

#1 - Apply WHAT you want to just one Event ( 'cos of your layout I'd do Track one Event)

#2 - Right on that same Event and "COPY"

#2 - Select remaining Events (35?)

#3 - Right Click "Paste Event Attributes"
- DONE!

All the remaining 35 should now have the effect.

A WORD of warning though. Don;t get carried away with this process. You CAN get multiples OF multiples if you repeat the process?!?? Otherwise it is a great function - very easy. I like easy!

Oh yes, our JohnMeyer has created a script that will "sniff-out" multiple FXs. Do a search here abouts and you should get a link - yeah?

Apply the effect to one Event then Ctrl C to Copy.

Use the Selection Edit tool (above the Time line) and drag a rectangle around the remaining events to select them all. Right click > Paste Even Attributes.

Thanks guys for answering the first. Sorry, I edited it and added the second question while you were answering.

( ah Pete!, just got up and saw our friend's Q . . You starting your afternoon eh? Getting slow!! LOL! )

I missed out Peter's reference to the selection tool! Good point Peter. I also missed out a transitive verb too! What a team we are??! "C'mon you VegHeads!"

Nevermine, I did it by doing x rotation -90 degrees in 3D source alpha. I swear I tried that earlier and it didn't work. I guess I should go to bed if the boys in England are waking up!

Apply the FX to the video bus track?
Depending on just what's happening elsewhere the result might not be what you had in mind.

(DOUBKLE post by G - No Moron' Coffee yet - apologies . . )

( I left the coffee thing in - kinda spells it out clearly for me at the moment . . )

If you've time, could you go through those steps one at a time - I've tried fiddling without success - the aim is to get it "bottom hinged" - right?
Grazie wrote on 11/3/2006, 11:20 PM
Well, Bob, I kinda thought that too. However the clue for me was to "each" event. And as you say, although a great Function - FX Bus track - that would be kinda Global (whole track/project) and not Local (Event)? ( oops, there's that Global/Schumacher/Environment allusion again - no getting away with it - huh?)
cheroxy wrote on 11/3/2006, 11:22 PM
Peter, yep, that's exactly what I want...A bottom hinge. It works perfectly as I stated above, but because it is a track effect that has to be done in 3D source alpha, I think I have to do it to each track.
Grazie wrote on 11/3/2006, 11:22 PM
Pete!!? What is "Bottom Hinged" - kewl!! You ozzies you!
Grazie wrote on 11/3/2006, 11:25 PM
Carson!! - You just edited your first post! Don't try and confuse me - completely unneseccary. I do a good enough job by meself - thank you very much!!

Now, just where IS my coffee?
cheroxy wrote on 11/3/2006, 11:25 PM
I think the easiest way to do it would be to set up one track as I want, then duplicate it 35 times, then run a script for the PIP effect. Thanks for helping me through this guys.

Carson, is this a job for Nests? Just a thought.
PeterWright wrote on 11/3/2006, 11:28 PM
Back in the days when chalk was first invented, I used to sit in a classroom in Essex which had bottom hinged windows - the catch was at the top and you could open the window about 40 degrees, as far as the side guides allowed.

- and they'd never heard of 3D Source Alpha!

"Carson, is this a job for Nests? Just a thought."

Maybe.

I want to randomly rotate the 36 PIP events up from flat (unseen) to normal and then have have them all split into 2 groups like black and white on a checkerboard. Each group will spin in opposite directions around a center point in the middle of the screen.

OK, so I tried the track duplicate and that won't work. I have both veggies posted here:

http://s92274348.onlinehome.us/Video/yes.veg

http://s92274348.onlinehome.us/Video/no.veg

Yes is the original where a couple of the tracks do rotate properly. No is the duplicated track version and they rotate around the same axis. What is the difference? This is the problem I had earlier. I can't seem to figure out any variable between the 3D rotation of the rotating tracks in the two projects. Both veg files have a tracks w/ events on 3D source alpha doing a -90 to 0 x rotation. All else seems to be equal to me. Anyway, I am off to bed. If anybody can figure this out please help.
Thanks

Just in case you are following this...

I am starting a new thread w/ the title of 3D perspective.
