2 Questions...

1. When rendering final project to import into DVD Archietect - what is the best format to render to as far as final quality goes? Avi or mpeg2?

2. I go through alot of raw footage before I start my project, does anyone know of a good avi/mgeg file player that will allow me to step through frame by frame? I know you can do it in Vegas - but I'm looking for something more light weight to preview the raw footage.

Thanks
Craig

1. Just use the mpeg2 templates on vegas and then DVDA will just use these without recompressing.
2. You need the MPC player. Select the right arrow key to move frame by frame. Unfortunately the left arrow key for backwards frame by frame does not work. http://eugenia.gnomefiles.org/2007/11/19/media-player-classic-rocks/
Quicktime can do that too, but it does not support avi/mpeg2, so mpc is the only way.

For the most part yes, but if your project creates an mpeg file that's too large to fit on the disc, DVDAS will have re-encode. VMS doesn't allow you to change the bitrate to adjust file size. While this won't be an issue for most projects, I have always rendered to AVI and let DVDAS do the encoding.
