2 Questions; Preview & Trimming

Have been using Vegas Video for a few months, and still kind of a newbie here so...sorry if this is really simple (I did try to search but didn't find an anwser):

While working on a current rush-project (3:05 min. piece with music, video and stills), the preview's transitions are not in sync with when they occur on the TL (unless I preview small sections at a time). How can I fix this?

And how can I trim a long video clip so that it is smaller (time wise and memory wise)?

Any help is appreciated in that I have a September 10th deadline.

Depending on your preview framerate, they can "appear" out of sync. How does it look when rendered?

To shorten a clip, render the desired section to a new file and delete the original file.

I'll render what I have dione so far to check, but I think it will be okay. When I preview a smaller section (by playing over a section that appears out of sync, than going back and playing over it again it appears in sync) it seems to be okay...it just takes longer to get the transitions timed right that way.

In regards rendering a desired section, I haven't ever rendered a segment of a (video) file before. Is that done from the trimmer window?

I really appreciate your help. Thanks.

Simplest way: put a selection area around the area you want to keep. Choose Tools - Render to New Track and enter a name for the new file. Then delete the original file from both the timeline and hard drive.

Wow, too easy...thanks for saving me time on this jetdv!! I've got this long-arss video footage that I took and now only need to use a few seconds of it. so I didn't want to bog down the system with this huge file.

I really appreciate the help.
