24p AVI output from Vegas to other apps

Okay, according to Sony's 24p white paper you select the following templates for progressive output:

Render or prerender your file using the following settings:

- Use the NTSC DV 24p (inserting 2-3-3-2 pulldown) AVI template for prerenders.
- Use the NTSC DV 24p (inserting 2-3 pulldown) AVI template for print-to-tape.
- Use the DVD Architect 24p NTSC video stream MPEG-2 template when rendering for DVD

The question I have is, say you want to create an AVI progressive file you want to encode with Squeeze or Canopus Procoder to DVD, Windows Media -- whatever???

Should I be using in this case the NTSC DV 24p 2-3-3-2 template? Also, can I export an uncompressed AVI file progressive, so in other words instead of going NTSC DV go uncompressed AVI but still at 24p???

for external encoding - if using the frame server or pre-rendering ... render to a 24fps file if using procoder (and select generic iso mpeg2 (NOT DVD !) and 3:2 pulldown 24->29.97 ntsc) (there is a bug in procoder - so take my word on the settings) , you will have to make sure all the other settings are dvd compliant ...

if using squeeze -- well why ? squeeze and Vegas use the same main concept encoder and honestly vegas will give you a better output and save you time ...

really really I dont recomend rendering to a dv file as an in between stage - for many reasons ....

render QT animation or targa or huffyuv or as frames .. or uncompressed .......

OK, so I've got a large file that I rendered as an AVI file - using 24P 2-3-3-2 pulldown.

Now I've inserted that file in a new project - still using 24p settings, and added 4 minutes of stuff, combining the old file with addtional footage at the end, and some cover shots through out.

So....now I want to make a DVD. I go to MAI N CONCEPT mpeg2 -but now it seems like there are 3 options.

1 default tempplate - which is 29.970 fps
2 DVD archectect 24P NTSC
3 DVD archectect - 24P NTSC - BUT go to a constant bit rate and forget about the 2 pass option that Spot talks about.

Thanks for the advice!! Too many options - not enough training.
