24p problems with Windows Media Player 10

Hey Everybody,

I just downloaded Microsoft's latest version of Media Player (10) and am having problems playing back mpeg 2 24p files. They do play, but are massively choppy and definitely not even close to being watchable. They played fine in Media Player 9...any ideas what's going on? When Media Player tries to automatically download the codec it just says "Error Downloading Codec".

Help!

Are these 320x240 or 1920x1080 or something inbetween?

I don't think WMP10 can handle 1080p, but it certainly can handle 1080i and less.

Its just a regular mpeg 2 file...normal resolution: 720 x 480. I have a brand new copy of Windows XP Professional (not a pirated copy)...I just can't seem to figure out what's happening.
