24p to PAL dvd...very bad

Steve8 wrote on 11/23/2014, 11:04 AM
Hallo guys,

i ve recorded an entire Advertising with DSLR in 24p. The image quality on youtube is good but if i want to output that footage in MPG2 template DVDARCHITECT widescreen, the results are horrible on a DVD player. Too many lines on the PAN and TILT moves of the camera and even when somebody is moving during the interview the effect is very unnatural.
What are your suggestions to have the best results on a normal DVD reader in PAL LAND?
Thank you so much

When converting 23.97fps to 25 fps, left to it's own devices Vegas doubles the first and 24th frame of every clip (and every so often thereafter). Add resampling and the result becomes really weird when it's interlaced for DVD. So disable frame blending, set your project properties to 25fps and the playback rate for 23.97fps clips to 1.043, leave the pitch shift on default, don't deinterlace and then render for DVD (or have a look at that later thread for how to convert 24fps to 25fps).

I can't wai to try! What's the pitch shift?
Thank you for helping me and spending time to solve my issue!

Sorry, that was 1.043, fixed the original, because you're playing back at a slower rate the pitch could drop but Vegas compensates for that by default.
