What do you think of your camera? I am looking at buying one for amateur sports
recording. How is the zoom? What is the picture like?

If managed right, this camera is AMAZING. Cool thing about it is, it absolutely separates the men from the boys. MUST be lit right, MUST be shot right, but done so, it's a fantastic camera...Simply stunning. I hadn't spent a lot of time with it, rented one once, but then Lance Bachelder told me I wasn't giving it a chance.
Once I did so, I was stunned. Gotta treat it JUST like film, or it won't be much to look at.

Hello,

I have yet to shoot extensively in 24p with this camera(did some test shots to see what it looks like), but will agree with SPOT 100%; this camera is amazing. This past weekend I used it to capture an event in Milwaukee at the Midwest Express Center. I had to use the 60i mode though (we had a trv900 to match the shots with, so I didnt want to shoot 24p and mix with 60i). The 60i mode looked amazing as well. It was all shot in a very low light situation with +6db gain; looks great. I have yet to explore this camera and I am very happy with it. The audio with an XLR shotgun mic is fantastic, plus you can control the levels very easily. IF you want a serious 3 chip camera; get the dvx100 now.

See the online Help, do a search for "24p", read every topic there, let me know if you have any more questions. In particular, the "Create a project in 24p from start to finish" section under "Working with 24p Progressive-Scan Video" pretty much covers it soup to nuts.
