24P - what did I do right ?

I do multi-camera wedding videos and was very interested in 24p, been reading, etc.

So on my last one, just to try it, after editting instead of rendering as NTSC DV I rendered as NTSC DV 24P with 2-3-3 pulldown

The results were awesome ! I then fed that avi to DVDA and set the frame rate to 23.97 and burned a DVD. The result is on tv it looks liek I shot a documentary on film. No jerkiness, etc.

They question is, why has everyone made this out to be so hard ? They said don't edit first, etc , use xyz template, and generally made it seem a pain.

So what did I stumble on ?

VEGAS!

Of course you would have got better results shooting on a native 24p camera, either the DVX100A or the XL2.
For a real thrill next time try shooting 24p 16:9, just don't expect much in the way of auto focus. Maybe not such a good look for weddings though.

Personally I'm not such a great fan of this 24p stuff, seems like going backwards to me, good gamma control in the camera yes, good DOF control also.
