25p to ntsc conversion

Hi,

I have to convert a 25p (progressive) video to an NTSC video, and I am searching for the maximum available image quality. As I live in Europe, I have no experience concering NTSC. Maybe someone who has already done this can give me some advice.

I thought about applying a 3:2 pulldown to the 25p video (which I would consider being 24p) to generate an NTSC video and slowing audio down by 1/25. This could be easily done using Avisynth.

Is what I am planning to do complete nonsense ? How do you make these conversions ?

Thanks in advance,
Bye,
David

The smoothest way is to slow it down 4% (which will slow it down to 24p) then apply a pulldown like it was 24p footage. You can also pitch transpose the audio back up if it bothers you. You can do all this in Vegas by the way.

Laurence is on the money. I've done this as a test and it works a treat. Trying to go 25p to 60i any other way I just don't see how it'd work. There's a good white paper from Sony on how to do the speed change while avoiding any resampling on this site, read it!

I think it made it's way into the V7 manual as well if you have it.
