3 Blank frames when splinting a vid to insert another

Bria wrote on 6/17/2025, 9:31 AM

I've got a long video, at points I split it, move the tail down a bit, insert another video after the head and then move the tail back to start after the inserted video.

Often, cannot be sure all the time, the last 3 frames of the inserted video are black/blank, they were not before, there is no problem with the audio.

In one case, it was more than 3, 7, I think, but that case may just be different.

This is on the timeline, so pre-render, but it's visible after render.

Any ideas as to what's going on?

Thanks

Please state

  • Vegas Pro version
  • Width and Height from Project Properties
  • Width and Height of the Media on the timeline
  • Screenshot of Options/Quantize to Frames settings

Second video inserted vid

I insert the second video as a Vegas project; however, as I changed the way I do things, I delete the audio and then add it back below the audio of the first/main video. Originally, I split both the video and audio of the main video and dropped the second in.

Sorry, my coffee consumption is below standard this morning. For discontinuity of cuts, we should be more interested in frame rate differences from the Project Frame Rate and/or the various media frame rates on the timeline.

  • Please state the Project Frame Rate.
  • Turn On Show Unquantized Event Edges (You'll see red lines where events don't align.)
  • Make sure Enable Snapping is turned On
  • Check and Uncheck the other Snap Options to determine if you are snapping to something unexpected.

I see that you have media of different frame rates on the timeline. There is a potential for discontinuity as a matter of course. Always Show Unquantized Event Edges to catch them.
