3 Port Firewire PCI Card Vs Video Card?

I went to the computer store to get a video card and they sent me home with a 3-port Firewire PCI Card. The exact driver is a Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant 1394 IEEE Host Controller. I sucessfully installed the card and the drivers, but cannot get Sonic Capture to recognize my Sony DV Camcorder. Did I get the right card or is there something else I should know?

Yes It is plugged into the camera and the camera is set to VTR Mode.

Thanks,
Doublejam

It sounds like you've got the right card and driver - try plugging the camera in, switching it on and then booting your pc.

In my case it was recommended not to use the Texas drivers but to let windows recognize the card and install the native windows drivers.
And this works.

If the firewire card came with software (mine did), does that work?

I agree with previous post, use the windows driver.

Which OS are you using?
