30 in 29.97

BACKGROUND
i'm adding 30fps footage to a 29.97 timeline. the goal is to preserve the quality of the frame; extra frames is not a concern.

SETUP
so i select Disable Resample to avoid frame-blending (not sure i need to in this case but anyway)
set the Playback Rate to 0.999 to gear down the frame-rate from 30 to 29.97

QUESTION
do i need to change the Undersample Rate as well? isn't that unnecessary once playback rate's been adjusted?

Undersample rate has nothing to do with your objective, so don't mess with it. It's used to obtain stop-motion strobe type effects.

Your setup seems correct. Disabling resampling is a good thing just in case the occasional odd frame doesn't line up.

shouldn't need to change any FPS at all. 29.97fps footage is footage that's a different timecode then 30fps footage so the sync (color, audio, I forget) match up properly. Just change the event from 30fps to 29.97 & it should be all right (I've done it quite a bit)

Are you sure about that? A 30fps clip one minute long physically has 1800 frames. A one minute 29.97 clip has about 1798 frames. There is a real difference in frame count between the two.
