32-bit VST Plug-ins in 64-bit Vegas

Anyone who has had a chance to work with Vegas 8.1 or 9.0 64-bit and your existing 32-bit VST plug-ins, please give your feedback here. Having recently upgraded my outfit to a 64-bit PC and Vegas 9, I would like to poll the user base about your successes and failures accessing your existing 32-bit mixes with 32-bit plugs within any 64-bit version of Vegas. I've experienced a number of instability issues with Vegas that I never saw prior to 8.1, although I believe that I've ruled out the notion that there is generally a conflict with utilizing 32-bit VST plug-ins. If my experience informs me correctly, it may simply be a matter of which plug-ins. For example, the Native Instruments guitar combos that came with Acid Pro seem to frequently show up in appcrash details. Beyond that, I can't prove that the plug-ins are or aren't the culprit.

Looking forward to your insights.

Really - there's no need to wonder about it. Unless there is some built in bridging mechanism that Sony is not telling us about - it is impossible for any 32bit plugin to work within a 64bit host.

Cheers!

Vegas does have a "bridge" to allow for 32 bit VST plug-ins to be used with Vegas 64.

Really?

Wow.

Was there any mention of this anywhere? Is it stable? What are the limitations?

Cheers!

No, I don't believe we added any marketing hype behind it.

I have not heard any reports of problems, though with all of the VST vendors out there I am sure there are some.

No limitations that I am aware of. I

Re: stability/reliability, this is really the kind of feedback I am looking for from the user base. I have had problems too many to number with Vegas 9 64-bit, so my reason for polling the community is to see how much of my problems could be caused by my VST's. I use

-Ozone 3
-PSP VintageMeter
-iZotope Acid effects rack
-Korg MDE-X
-the NI amps that came with Acid 7
-and GSnap (free, but always stable in previous versions of Vegas)

The only flaky set I use are the db-audioware Quantum FX plugs. They could crash previous versions of Vegas. Trick is, I can open a mix from Vegas8 in Vegas9 64-bit, and manually bypass all effects, and when I re-enable them one-by-one, there's really no rhyme or reason to when it melts down. And the preference for "Keep bypassed FX running" is unchecked.

Or I can open a new project and drop a wav into the timeline, and add just one instance of Ozone 3 to the track. And with just that one VST, suddenly playback drags to a crawl with any kind of moving of the mouse wheel or dragging the size of the dock up and down a little.

The 32-bit build of Vegas 9 is fine in that regard though, so it leaves me forever puzzled.

I'm curious about Wave Hammer - Stereo. Not that it's a VST, but I thought I'd take the opppotunity to mention that I don't see if available in Vegas 9 64bit, but it's there in 32bit.

Use Wave Hammer Surround. It is 64 bit.
