I'm getting 36 frames dropped repeatedly on capture. It will go about 40 seconds or so with no dropped frames and then it drops 36, then after a little while longer, it jumps to 72, then to 108, always in 36 increments. I have a separate capture hard drive and have defragged it. I have the latest audio, video, and firewire software and driver updates. I have disabled everything I can and only run the capture software so no tsr's are running in the background except the bare minimum. I do have a cheaper camcorder and somebody recommended trying a time base corrector for non-professional video sources. But is this really needed ? There's got to be something that makes sense of the 36 frame increments. Here's my setup. I'd really appreciate any help you can give me.
Cam Sharp Hi-8 VL-AH50
Capture Unit Pyro A/V LINK
Firewire Card Pyro Digital Video 1394DV

Audio Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2
Video ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128mb ddr
Windows XP Home Edition
Hard Disk-1 For Program Files 40gb
Hard Disk-2 Capture Disk 120gb Maxtor 7200 rpm Ultra ATA/133 dma enabled
TI OHCI IEEE 1394 Host Driver Controller Microsoft Driver 5.1.2535.0
AVC Compliant DV Camcorder Image Device Driver Microsoft 5.15.2600.0
Capture Program Vegas Video 4 (It also does it in Ulead Video Studio 6 )
Does anyone know why it would be exactly in 36 frame increments and what is the easiest and cheapest fix ?
Thanks in advance. Paul
