I checked out the site and personally, the interface is just horrendous. I am sure the appeal is for ordinary consumers and not pro level editors but man, the buttons on there are just funky and look to be unproductive in any serious work flow.
I really hope Vegas 6 will come with some form of hardware acceleration / better rendering.
I hate having a 300$ video card that does absolutely nothing apart from running games 2 weeks during the summer when I actually have time to do something else than working and studying.
Wow - it looks kind of cool. The interface looks sort of like - what is it - Cyberlink Power Director? And a bit of Pinacle Video Studio and a few others as well. Remember Vegas was/is a bit different as well in its layout. One thing that this has that the others don't is the ability to change the interface look via skins - You can change the cover of any module in 3D Edit. We call this cover a skin which is a simple bitmap (.bmp) graphic. We provide two skins one for consumers and a pro skin for the professional. We will be releasing new skins via our website and instructions on how you can create your own skins.
But interface aside it looks a bit promising, but it also looks very much like a beta. A few comments such as The capture tool’s expiry date is hard-coded into the software. That way, Tenomichi encourages users to come back every month for a download, to ensure they’re running the latest version of the whole package. and Final output is one area where 3D edit is currently very limited. All that’s available is rendering your completed video to a new file – and the only option here is DV. There’s no export back to tape, no MPEG-2 output, no built-in DVD authoring, and no streaming media format options either. All of these will have to be created from the DV file using a third-party application. really seem to indicate this. But I didn't see any mention of this being a beta - is actualy says this is version two!?!?!?!? (Version 2.01.02 according to the website) But it does seem like it might be worth watching - sort of the same way some of us felt like Vegas Video was worth watching and playing with back in verison 1.
The one thing that I am not sure I agree with is the "silver" or "gold" options. As near as I can figure out this is about updates as they come out. And with this seemingly being updated every month and this version 2 looking almost like a Beta it seems a bit much. For example the "gold" option: This enables you to get ALL our new and exciting features which are released every month right up untill our next upgrade. It also includes tools that will be released over the next two months such as our new scene detection, 3D font tool, audio FX tool and "Face Paint" For the "silver" option it is a bit more vauge: With your purchase of 3D Edit Silver you will receive a Silver Pass which gives you access to our Silver area. From here you can download new and exciting features which are released every month. These include new video FX, new transitions, and new tools and you can easily upgrade to 3D Edit Gold.
Funniest comment is this: Tenomichi’s 3D Edit is a curious beast, and a very British kind of editing application. hmmm....any of you Brits care to expand on this?
