3D Camera Solver

Rudi-Sordes wrote on 1/16/2022, 8:27 PM

When I upgraded to vegas 19 post, the visuals of the magix web site made me think vegas was now able on its own to solve 3D camera moves to incorporate 3D objects in scenes. Do I absolutely need mocha pro to do this or vegas 19 effect offers that internally. Many thanks in advance. I saw something called hitfilm mocha which seems an affordable way to get this function. Any real life experience of tutorial with afordable solution will be much appreciated. Just need to incorporate 3D objects (even simple floating texts) in a scene with moving camera.

If you want to motion/planar track in 3D space as seems to be the case, you will need Mocha Pro or HitFilm Pro. HitFilm Pro has a trimmed down version of Mocha Pro (Mocha HitFilm) but really only provides camera and planar tracking which would seem to be what you are looking for. Mocha HitFilm comes standard with HitFilm Pro, but there is a much less expensive way to get. HitFilm Express, a very basic version of HitFilm Pro, is free - https://fxhome.com/product/hitfilm-express. Although it doesn't have Mocha HitFilm as an included feature, Mocha HitFilm can be added for the very reasonable price of $49.99 USD - https://fxhome.com/store/hitfilm-express#mocha . It is assumed that this is the same Mocha HitFilm as appears in HitFilm Pro.

You might be interested in tutorials on YouTube about using Mocha HitFilm - https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hitfilm+mocha . One of the original tutorials from FXHome (who make HitFilm) is which looks at tracking titles.

With the latest update to HitFilm Pro, the 'what's new' info said that this release of HitFilm Pro will be the last version of HitFilm Pro that will integrate into Vegas Pro which presumably means that with future releases anything being done in HitFilm Pro will need to be done completely within HitFilm Pro (standalone), rendered in HitFilm Pro and the render then imported into Vegas Pro. I can only assume that this also applies to HitFilm Express but I don't have Express so have no experience with it.

I'm not sure what it was on Vegas Post's webpage that might have led you to believe that Post has 'solve 3D camera moves'. My understanding from earlier comments on the forum is that Vegas Effects (also a trimmed down version of HitFilm Pro) does not come with Mocha HitFilm.

@Dexcon @Rudi-Sordes This is the Mocha HitFilm interface on mine, it has the Camera Solve tab, but as i don't use it i can't tell you any more, Version 2021.2, (it's the latest version but i have an update pop-up that i have bothered doing yet )

@Former user  ... The latest HitFilm Pro version is 2021.3 - it was released very soon after 2021.2 so it may have been released to correct a problem with 2021.2. The info with both releases advised that future updates to HitFilm Pro would no longer integrate with Vegas Pro - but 2021.3 still does via R click on a video event on Vegas Pro's timeline.

@Dexcon @Rudi-Sordes I can still add & manipulate the OBJ files i have, so i should be able to still track them, i'll check later,

Where from & what kind of file your 3D Text comes from? @Rudi-Sordes
