3D Text is so 10 years ago

In regards to the posts about the various titling programs, has it occured to anyone that 3D text, for the most part, as grown passé? I know it would've been cool to have the cheap software of today, back in 1990. But tumbling, shiny beveled gold text is way past dated.

It's akin to seeing animated clip art on old websites.

Having seen the Bluff Titler effects, I still prefer the look (chrome, glass, marble, etc.) of Web3d (or 3D FX (same but different clipart)) from Asymetix. Search for it on this forum for the place to buy (also on E-bay for as cheap at $10).

It's an older program (WAY ahead of its time), but it will overlay on top of an existing AVI video file and you can create standalone animated titles, etc.). See a sample of several styles I created on Chien's site at

It's also a 1 hour program to learn and easy to use.
