HI
I will buy the new Movie Studio Platinum 11, because of 3D support.
I was really happy when is read it will support like Pro 10.
I have 2 Sony handycam for great 3D recording.
Now i cannot use the 2 files from camcorders in VMS 11 3D mode. When i import it and select both of them i cannot rightclick and select "Pair as stereoscopic 3D subclip" command, beacuse there is no such option! Why? How can i use then my footage taked with consumer cams?

thanks!

Does the option exist in Vegas Pro 10? If not, then this is done differently, in which case, read the manual (most of us here haven't tried 3D). I'd suggest you also search on youtube, like this video, there are plenty:

Yes, the option is and work in Vegas Pro 10 of course. I miss in VMS 11. That's why i ask it here.
The linked youtube video doesn't help me at all. It doesn't show any 3D, but a 2D video moving in 3D depth. To bad people think it will be a real 3D video, but the the author kid (?) has very little experience in 3D workflow.

So the question is: how can i use the 3D from 2 separate files in VMS 11?

What does the Help file say about 3D? It's usually very good in explaining how things work.

I have a feeling, though, that it creates 3D from a single video file on the timeline rather than the two you're hoping for.

"Just select the clips in the Project Media window and choose Pair as Stereoscopic 3D Subclip from the shortcut menu"

I don't find this shortcut. Maybe the trial doesn't have, but the full version will? Or is this just a bug that will be fixed?

Hehe, I managed to do it. I don't know if it's different than how it's done in Vegas Pro 10, but it's definitely doable. So:
1. Set project properties as Stereoscopic 3D, Side by Side Full. Set the rest of the project properties properly too.
2. Bring the two clips in the project media.
3. Bring them in the timeline, one on one video track, and the other on the video track below.
4. Select BOTH clips in the timeline, right click, and click "create subclips". Two new subclips are now in your project media.
5. Remove the two clips from the timeline, and place instead the two subclips.
6. Now, if you actually select both of them in the timeline, and right click on them, the Pair as Stereoscopic 3D is available.

Not sure if this is a bug. If on Vegas Pro the option is available without having to create subclips, then this is definitely a bug, or a lame artificial limitation.

You are Genius! It works!
Thanks, i'll order it ;)

ps: i found an easier solution. There is no need to create subclips, just place the 2 clips in the timeline, exactly above below, and the select both, right click and Bang! there is the missing option: "pair as stereoscopic 3D subclip", one clip disappears, as it should.

This option did not appear for me until I used the subclips rather than the original clips, glad to see it worked better for you.

Interesting.
I set project properties to 3D, bring both clips to timeline, and i can pair as stereo 3D. Look: http://imageshack.us/f/215/stereo3d.jpg
Maybe because the filename contain the "-l" and "-r" character?

So much for feelings. I'm glad it's working for you.
