/3GB Switch and OTF Fonts

There's a known issue with the /3GB switch and the ability to use OTF type fonts (vs. TTF). With the /3GB switch active all I can see is the TTF; I would assume anyone who has used the /3GB switch is experiencing similar behavior. This impacts VMS and other apps as well. Does anyone know if there is a way to have the /3GB switch active and access my OTF fonts?

I'm running 32 bit XP.

Hey Rivet,

I'm not an IT admin, but what apps are you running where you need to even tweek the switch? There are documented cases that the switch doesn't improve memory resources enough to make it feasible. Have you thought about upgrading to a 64 bit version to overcome the 4gb rule?

And from Microsoft, 3 Gigabyte Address Space Problem with OTF Fonts on Win 7 32 bit

I would recommend turning it off and keep the fonts. Then upgrading to 64bit and you have resources and memory you need for Photoshop and VMA running simultaneously.

Hope the links help,
