4.0c feature requests

As this is my first post ... Hi to you all.

Onto business...

I noted a request for scripting features in the 4.0c release - thought that I'd chance my luck and ask for something non-script related.

When logging my clips I break them up into regions using the trimmer - it would be nice to be able to treat these regions as 1st class entities in the media bins; currently the media bin can only identify the clip, not the region so I end up using the explorer rather than the bins.

One more request, I'd really like to be able to organise the regions/clips/media on a storyboard and add comments to these. As a more generalised alternative, it would be nice if I could associate each event on the timeline with a comment and, optionally, expand the "comment reel" in the same way as the transition and keyframe reels. This would allow me to dedicate a muted track to a storyboard with synchronised annotations below it. It would also allow others to make notes next to their events.

How about it Sonic?

Thanks for a great package ...

Improve the Mpeg2 codec to 2 pass or whatever it takes to make it perfect
especially for film converted to tape to eliminate the judder.

How about letting you pick out the preview frame for video in the media pool?

It would br great to be able to put the timeline at the bottom of the workspace and the preview window at the top.

Well the top of my list is a feature found in Acid Pro 4.
The "Get Media" Button found in Acid. I get most of my great loops from that. It would work very well for backdrops, animations, user created freebies, and even DirectX plugins. Please bring that to Vegas!!

Now the next item is a real "duh" head banger. Sometimes I install a DIrectX audio Synth or plugin and it doesn't show up until I go in to Sound Forge and "reorganize" my plugins. Now if you could add that feature as well as VST and VSTi Support for us people that score directly into a multitrack enviroment.

And last but certainly not least can we get DAW support for Midi Hardware control. I'm am so tired of my friends and there cool edit pro and Nuendo making fun of my setup, because my mixer won't interface for motion automation and DAW control.

Havn't seen 4.0c yet, so here goes:
1) Make projects save to a default directory set from within the project. I have found my projects all over different drives on my computer, because I need to make a quick 'save as' after gettting media from somewhere else, and sometimes forget to maneuver my way back to where I always want them to go.

2) Tighter tracking/re-using of selectively pre-rendered files, so that if that part of the timeline hasn't changed, it won't re-rerender even if you bring the project up after re-booting.

3) Improve the titler with gradient faces, etc. etc etc. Th only thing I miss about Premiere 6.5 is the improved titler that they came out with.

4) The selective pre-render status bar never shows x of y completed, but x-1 of y completed.

Thanks SoFo,
