4K rendering with alpha channel?

Hi all,

Is there a way to do a 4k render with alpha channel in Vegas Pro?

I'm trying to do one of those virtual-orchestra videos, but the twist here is that I'm also trying to mimick a multicam by cropping, zooming and panning this video (layer) at various points. At the same time, there will be an animated background being displayed underneath the main video which is the reason for the alpha-channel on the main video.

The main video (layer) is the one I would like to render as 4k with the alpha-channel.

Any ideas if Vegas can render such a format?

Many thanks

Use uncompressed AVI or a nested project.

@bryan-quarrie @Marco.

There is another option that doesn't use as much disk space as Uncompressed .avi and (depending on the source project) may not be as demanding on the system as a nested project. That is, rendering to an Image Sequence using transparent .PNG.

Here is a file size comparison.

Disclaimer:

I use nesting almost all of the time. For my project sources, it's a wash. For more compressed sources there may be some advantage.

@john_dennis

Thanks for this 😀. I’ll give it a go.

I did try nested projects but that slowed my system to a crawl (with two nested projects) - Maybe next time for HD projects 😀👍 thanks anyway, @Marco.
