5.1 surround question

Is there a way to get a single audio track to pan from right to left or front to rear? I would think a key frame type of control would allow this, but I don't see any key frame ability in regards to 5.1.

An example of what I am talking about would be an audio track of a helicopter. I would like to make the helicopter audio go from the front right speaker to the rear left during DVD playback.

Of course you can!
In the audio track you wish to pan, right click the track header and choose Insert Surround Pan keyframes. This will allow you to insert these.
You can also enable automation in that track, open the surround panning GUI, and simply move your target with the mouse or joystick at that moment in time. Vegas will record your movements.
