6.0D Crashing while trying to render MPEG2

I've been desperately trying to render a file to MPEG2 DVD NTSC for import in to DVDA 3.0 all this last week. Each time it crashes at some point with the message that "Vegas has encountered a problem and needs to close"! This has been happening mostly at the 3% mark but also at 62% one time and just now at 82% of the complete render. I'[m using Windows XP Home with 1 gig of Ram and plenty of room on the hard drives. I cleaned out the "My DVD" folder also to make sure there was room there and still this problem. Anyone have any ideas? I also tried re-installing Vegas 6.0D which is what got me to the farthest position so far of 82% render complete.

I'd be looking at heat, given that it's an inconsistent point of failure. That's assuming all background apps have been closed down and nothing is calling for resources at arbitrary points in time. MPEG encoding is one of the most torturous things you can do to a CPU, and they get very hot. I don't remember if it was John Rofrano or Craftech that pointed out a super cooling system, but it seems to have fixed a few folks having heat issues.

Thanks Spot! I'll give it a good look over and clean it out real good today when the sun comes up. I finally got it rendered but am not sure what changed to get it there? This processor has a Zalman cooling fan on it.
