600 hundred pictures in the timeline.

I want to put over 600 pictures in the timeline using the same crossfade transition and 5 second display time each.
I know how to do it one by one but I want to do it automated thank for any help.

In Options/Prefs, set default still length to 5 seconds.
In same tab, set overlap to length of desired crossfade.
Drag all 600 up at once.

or, use a script to assemble them the same way.
