60fps to 30fps Slow Motion

Hi,

I have a GoPro video camera which records a nice 1280x720p at 60fps in mp4 format. I would like to put it into Sony Vegas Movie Studio 10 HD and slow it down to 30fps so i can have smooth slow motion. Is it possible or would i be better buying a professional editing suite like adobe premier?

thanks

What about Vegas Pro?

So are you not getting smooth slomo with VMS? Just in the preview window on in your rendered output?

VMS is able to do it this fine. Set up a 59.94 fps timeline (make sure your project properties are correct), then put your 60p file in the timeline, right click on it, and change the undersample rate to 0.500. Then resize the clip so it becomes 2x larger in the timeline. Now you can export at 29.97 fps, and it will be slow motion.

Hi thanks for your reply. I can only set the fps in the project properties and it appears the only options are 24 / 25 / 30 fps there is no options for 60. I have looked through the options and cannot see an option for timeline fps. could you possibly let me know where the timeline settings can be found?

thanks again.

Not everything will be handed to you by Vegas. For some of these options you will have to type them yourself, like the frame rate. Its input box is typeable. Just make sure your video is indeed 59.94 fps (don't type 60 if it's 59.94 -- Vegas has another dialog that tells you what your video is).
