60i 30p and 24p CanonHF100

My Canon Vixia HF 100 HD camera produces .MTS files and can shoot either 60i, 30p, or 24p. Yet when I want to import any of these into vegas and use "match media settings" in Project Properties Vegas invariably tells me they are all 60i, interlaced. I expected this on the 60i but not the 30p or 24p.

Do I need to manually adjust the properties of the clip to "progressive" when I am trying to use a 30p or 24p file?

All help and insight appreciated.

See my thread from not long ago where a user answered it.

Miles,

Thanks for the reply! It helps alot. Did you ever get an answer to your remaining questions:

"- Would it be beneficial to put the project resolution to 1280x720 if I wanted to do some pan/zooms on 1080 media so that I could zoom without losing quality?

- What about the question I had about media settings on the timeline? (the right-click->properties->media->Field Order->progressive) Is that suggestion correct you think?"
