We will continue to live in the 32bit world, and these plugins will slow us down

Why do you think 32 bit plugins would have any particular negative impact on performance. There would obviously be the WOW overhang, but that is as close to insignificant as you can get. Since a plugin typically won't work with the entire Vegas time line it doesn't need access to the amount of RAM Vegas does, and it doesn't benefit in any significant way from being 64 bit. That is, of course, unless Vegas would have to move things around in memory to give 32 bit plugins access to it, but that would seem like a rather silly way to write a WoW plugin layer.

EXACTLY. If SOny provides 32bit plugin support then the chances are great that we will NEVER get true benefit from 64 bits

So, please elaborate blink, for those of us who know a little bit about what we are talking, how on earth having support for 32 bit plugins would negate the fact that Vegas is 64 bits and will always be able to take advantage of everything 64 bit whether it can run 32 bit plugins or not.

In other words, how on earth would the fact, let's say the Movie Looks plugin is 32 bit in any possible way delay your getting the "true benefit from 64 bits"? What is this magic that you think is in 64 bits, and how would the Wicket Witch of a 32 bit plugin hinder your access to it?

Its an unbelievable line of argument isn't it?

I think someone will write a wrapper, but really we need Sony to do something that is integrated so that it can work transparently in the background. Otherwise we are going to spend ages transferring the plugins and automation into the wrapper plugins etc.

Sort it out Sony.

How do I make Vegas 8.1 "see" plugins, like Excalibur, VASST utilities, or Magic Bullet Movie Looks HD?

The word I have gotten so far is that Excalibur does properly show up and appears to be working fine. Same is true with Project Inspector and Auto Save.
