8 Gb File transfer problems?

Would anyone know why I can't transfer an 8gb avi file to my external hard drives via firewire. My PC is telling me there is not enough room even though there is more than enough. I can easily transfer a 2 gB file This occurs on 2 different drives a Lacie 60Gb and a Acom 60Gb? Can this be overcome?

Hi Michael,

It might depend on the formatting of the external drives...

FAT32 has a limit of 4GB. You may need to reformat to NTFS to store larger files.

Another thought is to try loading the avi into Vegas and rendering to the external drive. Vegas should break the file into seamless segments (the render of the finished avi should go quickly, if the project settings are neutral).
