848 x 480 project

My daughter is now using Vegas 7.0 for some projects. She has one that she wants to play on a widescreen HiDef television (not in HiDef) .. Her footage is off a small Casio camera that records in 848 x 480. She can set the project properties to 848 x 480 and that works fine. But how does she render ? There is no template for 848 x 480 .. She wants this to play full widescreen on her television not letter boxed ..

Simply rescale the 848x480 to a standard format and render to that, probably NTSC Widescreen would do the trick.
Don't forget to render at Best.

>>NTSC Widescreen<<

Will this give us a box in a box ? She wants to fill the entire HiDef set which I believe is 16 x 9 aspect ratio --- I'm really ignorant on HiDef and widescreen as I work in DV good old 4 x 3 ..

depends on the aspect ratio the camera records in. if it's in 4:3 you'll need to use pan/crop to 16:9 & then render as 16:9. if it's already wide screen shouldn't be an issue.

848x480 is pretty much exactly 16:9.
840x480 is 1.76:1
16:9 is 1.77:1
So close it is irrelvant.

Open NTSC 16:9 project and drop this footage onto the T/L, open Event pan/crop. I think selecting Match Output Aspect will do it for you.

Ok. Thanks guys. We'll run some tests to DVD and see how it goes. I think you got me on the right track. I guess I have to get myself ready for HiDef and WIdescreen eventually !! Thanks for the very quick response.
