8b>8c - no video previews from project media

Just installed 8c. I get no video previews when I play a clip from the project media window, just audio. I have to drag a clip to the timeline to get a normal preview. Worked fine with 8b (haven't changed/touched any preview settings).

Also - if I open one project in 8c, and then try to open another project, the video thumbnails in the project media window don't update - that is, the old thumbs from the previous project remain, even though the new clips are there (I can tell b/c I can preview the audio, though as I mention above, no video previews.) The thumbs of clips that have the same file names in both projects don't update - e.g., clip 001.m2t - the old thumb remains (they are different files in different folders so though they share the same file name, they are different clips).

This is from the 8.0c release notes:

--Enhanced Trimmer window with integral video monitor, separate external monitor, Enable Timeline Overwrite, and Fit to Fill modes.

When the Show Video Monitor button in the Trimmer window is selected, video that you preview from the Vegas Explorer and Media Manager windows is played back in the Trimmer. Because the Trimmer is placed in the same window dock as the Explorer and Media Manager, you will not see your video preview. To preview Explorer and Media Manager video, you can drag the Trimmer to a new dock group, or you can turn off the Show Video Monitor button to preview in the Video Preview window.

OK thanks. Solved my first problem, but my thumbnails still won't update when switching between projects. Any ideas, or is this just a bug?

Glad I found this post...in several years of using Vegas Movie Studio I never had an out-of-the-box install not show a video preview from the explorer. However, on a fresh Vegas Pro 8.0c install having the defaults different so that the "Show Video Monitor" is selected in the Trimmer by default seems like SCS is "guiding" us to use that window more?

It's a new feature and I think they wanted to guide people to it to see it. As you can see, the trimmer works fine but the presentation of it isn't too good.
