8mm

I took 2hrs of old 8mm tape and transfered to computer. My Idea was to make dvds. It took almost 3.5 to convert to Mpeg2. Does that sound correct? Is there a faster way than this to convert them?

If you plan on editing the movie, you'd better stick to the avi format. You'll need about 25 GB of diskspace for that, but it may go faster tha mpg, as there is less compression. The time it takes really depends on the processor speed of your computer.

If I understand what you are doing (no editingh?)
I use a Sony VRDMC1 that records the 8mm tape to DVD directly and in real time.
