8mm tapes in Digital 8 Camcorder

Someone has given me several home videos on Maxell 8mm MP tapes to transfer to DVD. I have an old Digital 8 Sony Handycam Camcorder that I do not use any more. The tapes fit and seem to play fine. Is it OK to capture the video using these 8mm tapes, the Digital 8 camcorder and Vegas 7.0 or will there be issues that I am unware of? The owners want them on DVD as the final product. Thanks!

If you can see the picture thru your Digital 8, you can capture. No problem. If you drop any frames, go into the menu of the Dig 8 camera and find TBC and DNR controls and set to 'On' This will help on tapes that drop frames.

The digi8 cameras were designed to be backwards compatible like that... except for some of the newer low-end models, which have been watered down to remove hi8 playback capability.

I've used my DCR-TRV460 to do this many times successfully.
