8X DVD+R Avaibable Now

Plextor has released the first 8X DVD+R burner on the market, only 264.99 at newegg.com.

There are a couple good reviews at newegg. I think I'll save my pennys for a few more weeks and go with it. Sounds good.

P.S. Also burns CDs at 48X, DVD-R at 4X, etc.

I wouldn't trust media designed to burn that fast.

Actually, it starts out at 6X and then accelerates to 8X. Might be a good idea to wait a little to see how it all works out, although the review I read said it burned most media fine and worked great at 8X on DVD+R Media explicitly rated at 4X.

I guess it doesn't burn DVD-R which is a pain, I've found a few player that just don't like DVD+R (Macs being one of them!).

It is a +/- burner, but only burns -R at 4x. Haven't burned a single coaster with it yet, though I haven't burned at 8x yet, either.
