9.0 Bug adding clip to trimmer while playing T/L?

FrigidNDEditing wrote on 7/2/2009, 11:06 PM
Hey guys, can someone confirm this for me?

When I add a clip to the trimmer while playing the timeline back, I get only the audio waveforms, but if I stop playback on the T/L and add it again, then I get the image as well.

Tried to send a message to support but even though I was logged in, it keeps asking me to create an account, and it doesn't seem to see my account that I'm logged in as for some reason.

Thanks
Dave

Can't Repro.

1] Playing Main Timeline clip

2] Go to Explorer & locate clip

3] Open Clip in Trimmer

Both Audio and Video in both media playing as should.

As per your other "bug" did your restart assist?

Maybe you were "picking up" the clip below the lower dotted line, which brings in audio only.
(between dotted lines = both, above top line=vision only)

nope, nothing to do with dotted line, and re-start didn't help it.

Set your prefs to have Vegas add media to trimmer when you double click. Play some footage on the timeline, and while playing the timeline, double click a clip from the media bins.

For me it only shows the waveform until I stop the timeline playback and add it again, or disable the show video monitor.

Just did what you said Dave - the clip opened in Trimmer, with audio immediately visible but blank white space where vision thumbnails are. As soon as I stopped timeline playback, the thumbnails displayed ok in Trimmer. I didn't have to add it again, though.

double click a clip from the media bins. Ah! Double Click from Project Media. Needed the detail Dave . . .

Double clicked to Add to Trimmer while PLAYING T/L. Working fine here - no repro. There is about a 0.1sec delay till video shows in Trimmer while T/L plays. But this is acceptable, as the CPU is also dealing with playing T/L.

I'm gettilng this same behavior with "show video monitor" ON in the trimmer. Where the monitor image should be, I get the audio waveform. Once I stop the T/L and I CLICK on the waveform, the monitor image appears. Do not have to reload the trimmer. If I keep the T/L running, I can get the monitor image to appear by "toggling" the "show video monitor" button off and then ON again.

Yes, I was using "traditional" Trimmer, no Monitor, but when this is toggled ON I get the same symptoms ...

Xberk,

Sounds like you and I are getting pretty much the same behavior, I did find that if I hit play in the trimmer I would get the video to show up, but only while it was playing, and then it popped back to what you see in my previous image as soon as I stopped playback in the trimmer again. I also found that if I clicked up in the video I saw it show up like it should.

So I'd say this is a confirmed bug then.

Yup! Repro-ed.

So you have to:

1] Have Open In Trimmer option

2] Have the Trimmer Monitor have FOCUS

3] Have T/L running

4] Double click on Media in Project Media

Seems like the obverse of having the Trimmer Monitor NOT allow T/L to run. Can this be classified as a bug? If something HAS started with FOCUS, kinda sets the scene for everything else?
