Really happy with 9.0a... except for one quibble. And maybe this is intentional, but...
When you open up a video fx window (and others) it still has the same old bright-as-the-sun Vegas interface. And with the new dark interface in 9.0 to contrast it with, it's especially annoying. Does this bother anyone else, or is it just me?
Right.......And they keep a list on their desk of everybody's name and unique problems and notify each person individually upon fixing the issue at hand so they can PERSONALLY download their individual fix. I guess they must have mixed up that list this time around :)
Are you sure that wasn't the standard issue download link of the day in foot note form that comes on most emails from Sony?
Edit: just checked my email and I got one too from eric... standard issue stuff. This does not mean YOUR SPECIFIC problem has been fixed.
I put in for several issues but the email does not make reference to any one particular thing I put in for. Some of the issues I put in for have been noted in the release notes.... some not.
1) if the AVCHD bug that it takes three or four seconds when pressing play on the timeline to get up to full speed has been fixed.
2) if the bug in the 64 bit version where half the times you open Vegas it will give an error saying "An error occurred opening the media file" that forces the user to select "Ignore this and subsequent errors" and then close and re-open Vegas and reload the project to open it fine.
Downloading both versions now - slowly ...... guess everyone has the server maxed? Bet those drives at Sony are heating up about now! :)
On Edit:
Man, that AVCHD preview from my SR11 is smooth now! And yes Sebaz, just about zero delay on getting to full speed - less than a second - only slows down at FX and transitions - Very nice!!!! The not being able to use 2 pass render on MP4s is fixed too! Sony Rocks! :)
(gotta luv speedy installation on RAID arrays too!)
guess that auto bug reporting feature is paying off bigtime for us!
Anyone sitting on the bench for 9.0a waiting for fixes should jump in now - it's looking very good right now! This should have some people upgrading for sure.
My standard def project that worked fine in Vegas 8 still does not respond properly in 9a. Very sluggish time line. Slow to start and/or slow to stop when I push the start & stop buttons. Cannot even catch the edge and move the clip without waiting several seconds for it to respond. Basically unworkable. I delete an audio track and it takes a few seconds. It is a large project and contains a large number of video and audio files as well as tracks. No anti virus running and several other processes killed. I guess the only solution is to break the project up and use nested projects. Hopefully that will work because it seems to be too big a project for the new version. I run a quad with 4 gig ram on 32bit Vista.
It's true, judging by the success I have with Vegas64, I must only know how to use that. 32bit Vegas is a totatly different workflow.
I can see the Vegas engineers meeting sounding like this in the "Blinkey Universe":
Programmer #1 "Yeah,...we got allot of complaints of memory and rendering problems out there."
Programmer #2 "Nah,...I dont think so,..I'm reading posts from this Blinkey dude that HE doesnt have rendering problems and he thinks everybody is crazy that does"
Manager: "Ok,...good enough for me, Let's go with the Winkey-man,..let's not worry about it"
hehee,...Thank you SCS for doing the smart thing!
I can see you reading the 9A release notes saying "damnit!,..they ARE working on rendering problems,....crap!,...what do I say to everybody now?"
"It's true, judging by the success I have with Vegas64, I must only know how to use that. 32bit Vegas is a totatly different workflow."
Clappy.... only YOU know where your problem lies. If you're going to tell stories though you do need to get your facts straight. I do know that's hard for some body like you..... but not ONCE did I say Vegas DIDN'T have a "rendering problem". my beef was always WHERE it was and WHAT it was all about.
But go ahead Clumpy ....continue on with your story telling... I'm sort of getting a kick out of it. I should also say that it really sort of amuses me to see how much i play on your mind ;)
Well Blunk? I'm not going to try and convince you after all these months that you were wrong about this. People that have read you will deterimine that for themselves.
My "story" is simply the same as many others since Vegas 8. I dont know yet if Vegas 9a is the answer but looking at the release notes, I like what I'm reading....A nice long list of fixes with many references to rendering fixes.
That's my "story" and the"story" of many others and SCS is aknowledging it. (I'm very proud of SCS today)
You do play on my mind. I will sleep and dream of you all night tonight.
How does the song go? "your so vain,..I bet you think this song (thread) is about you, dont you?" lol
no man,...it's not that. It's that you stand out so much on this board,...you are like the odd and ardent defender of SCS. I get a kick outa watching you get jacked when somebody "complains" about Vegas. it's funny to me how you cant handle it. All you know how to do is jump on people and throw a fit. I get a kick outa predicting what you will say next,..it's not hard to do actually.
Bottom line: SCS is on the case!,..(I mean,.."story")
