9.0c Hangs at start

CasterPlay wrote on 12/29/2009, 6:48 AM
Just installed 9.0c in a fresh Windows7 (32 bit), and when strating Vegas it just stops at "Initalizing DirectX plug-ins..."

First time I started Vegas, Microsoft Security Essentials said that "FileIOSurrogate" could be a threat. I put that file on Excluded files in Microsoft Security Esentials program.

I have trid to turn off "Realtime protection", I have tested start Vegas as Administrator.

Vegas has not hunged in activity window, just stuck on loading DirectX plug-ins...

Any ideas?

Allow it.

as I said I have put that file on "Excluded files" i MS Security. Infact the hole "C:\Program Files\Sony" folder is excluded in MS Security Essentials.

No problems on Win7 with MSE - but I am using the 64 bit version - maybe it's a Win7 32 bit problem?

Try renaming your "Shared Plug-Ins" folder to something else temporarily and see if Vegas loads.

No differens when renaming "Shared Plug-Ins" folder.

I also now, uninstalled 9.0c, deleted the Sony folder, and reinstalled 9.0c, registred. But same problem when straing Vegas. Just stops on "Init DirectX..."

This is a peer forum. Sony Tech Support can be contacted through the links at the top of the page.

It's most likely a plugin that was installed with another app or codec that is causing the problem. Sorry we couldn't be of more help.

Cubase has caused a few problems in the past.

Do a clean reinstall.

Uninstall V9 and clean the registry first. If the problem still persists, it's probably something in the Sony shared folder. That's the only folder Vegas keeps stuff in.

And before you go messing with the registry I would strongly encourage you to contact Sony so as to get from them the correct entries to delete/edit.

I would recommend you use system restore to go back to right before you installed Vegas and then disable your antivirus suite before installing it again.

One other thing to try first is to remove your virus protection temporarily and then reinstall Vegas.
